WHO WE ARE

PATHSA is a registered interdisciplinary health professional public benefit organisation working to promote the health, wellbeing and self-actualisation of trans and gender diverse people. The Association is established for the following public benefit objectives:

  • Facilitate networks and foster supportive environments for health professionals working with and for trans and gender diverse people.
  • Develop, advocate for and promote best practices and clinical resources for gender-affirming health care.
  • Encourage, promote, conduct and disseminate research, which is done in a respectful way towards the community, to expand knowledge and deepen understanding about trans and gender diversity.
  • Advocate for institutional, policy, and legislative change by utilizing our collective knowledge and expertise.
  • Provide education on holistic gender-affirming healthcare promoting the health, wellbeing, and supporting the self-actualisation of trans and gender diverse people.
  • Develop leadership skills amongst trans and gender diverse health professionals and promote indigenous perspectives.

Connection: You are connected to a larger group banded together to produce positive results for gender-affirming healthcare in South Africa.

CPD meetings, webinars and conferences: Monthly online CPD meetings and quarterly webinars provide opportunities to learn more and interact with colleagues. PATHSA will host an annual symposium on gender-affirming healthcare to coincide with the AGM.

Public Policy / Advocacy: You can contribute to advocating for institutional, policy and legislative change.

Informational Services: PATHSA keeps members in touch with each other and current issues through the association’s web site and email updates of emerging issues relevant to gender-affirming healthcare.
