Affirming Practitioners Directory

The healthcare providers listed below are verified PATHSA members who have consented to having their information made publicly available in this directory. By completing the registration process, each practitioner has confirmed their understanding of what it means to be affirming, and has committed to PATHSA’s principles of care and constitutional values. Healthcare providers who are members of PATHSA must be registered with a regulatory body in order to qualify for membership.

To be listed here, practitioners have agreed to:

  • Uphold PATHSA’s mission to provide holistic, gender-affirming healthcare that supports the self-actualisation of trans and gender-diverse people.
  • Ensure their care is inclusive and affirming, respecting the identities, lived experiences, and rights of all patients.
  • Foster supportive environments that meet the unique needs of trans and gender-diverse individuals, in line with PATHSA’s objective to promote well-being.
  • Acknowledge the power dynamics typically present in healthcare interactions, and actively work to dismantle hierarchies that can undermine equitable care.

In addition, each provider has confirmed that they will:

  • Abide by PATHSA’s constitution, including its objectives to build networks, promote best practices, and advocate for institutional and legislative change that benefits trans and gender-diverse people.
  • Commit to PATHSA’s values of inclusivity, advocacy, respect, and empowerment, affirming the dignity and self-determination of all patients.
  • Incorporate indigenous perspectives and acknowledge the cultural diversity of South Africa in their approach to care.
  • Uphold the ethical responsibility to provide affirming, non-discriminatory care and to challenge harmful dynamics within the healthcare system.
